The GPs working from Doctors at Southport Park are all highly trained registered medical specialists, who are committed to providing the highest level of care and service possible.  Unfortunately, successive Commonwealth governments have failed to fund the Medicare Benefits Schedule to the level required in order for the Medicare rebates to cover the true cost of providing high quality GP care. 


As such, there are some out-of-pocket fees for services provided by the GPs working within our practice. The GPs working with us, are committed to ensuring vulnerable groups are able to continue to access their GP services. 


Children aged 15 years and under, pensioners and DVA Gold Card holders will continue to be bulk-billed for all general consultations. 

The following groups of patients will be asked to contribute to the cost of their care by paying a "Discounted Fee":

  • Patients aged 16yrs to 18yrs

  • Patients aged over 18yrs and with a healthcare card


Services provided to all other patients, will usually incur an out-of-pocket fee, however they may be bulk-billed at the sole discretion of the GP where a patient is experiencing exceptional circumstances.


We have setup the EFTPOS capability to ensure patients are able to claim their Medicare rebate at the time of paying their consultation Fees, so the relevant Medicare rebate(s) are deposited back into the patient’s bank account on the spot. Please note, full payment is required at the time of consultation and can’t be delayed to a future time.


Please note, the following services will remain as bulk-billed services for all patients with a valid Medicare card:

  • GP Management Plans (and reviews)

  • Team Care Arrangements (and reviews)

  • Medicare funded Health Assessments

  • Mental Health Treatment Plans and reviews

  • Home Medication Reviews

  • Attendance for all patients seeking a free flu vaccination

  • Attendance for all COVID-19 vaccinations



If you are unable to make it to your appointment, please provide at least 4 hours’ notice so we can offer your appointment to another patient.  Where patients do not provide 4 hours’ cancellation notice, they may be charged a cancellation fee of $40.00 for a standard appointment and $80 for a long consultation which is not claimable on Medicare.
